Terms of Service

Last updated: May 6, 2026

These terms apply to the MediaLayer website at medialayer.ai and to the MediaLayer matching API exposed at api.medialayer.ai and through RapidAPI. By using MediaLayer, you agree to these terms. If you are accepting these terms on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization.

1. Acceptable use

You may use MediaLayer to compare media that you own or are authorized to compare. You may not use it to:

  • Process media you do not have the right to process under copyright, contract, or applicable law.
  • Submit content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or where MediaLayer operates, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Probe internal networks, scan private IP ranges, or attempt to extract content from cloud-instance metadata services. URLs that resolve to private, loopback, link-local, or reserved addresses are rejected automatically.
  • Abuse the website demo, automate scraping of the playground, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or other access controls.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code or model parameters from API responses.

2. Rate limits and demo limitations

The website playground enforces a per-day request limit per user and is intended for evaluation only. Production traffic must go through RapidAPI under the relevant subscription. Any usage in excess of published limits may be throttled, denied, or blocked without notice. We may update limits at any time.

3. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uptime. The service may be unavailable during maintenance, due to third-party outages, or for reasons outside our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with reasonable notice for paid tiers and without notice for the free demo.

4. No warranty

MediaLayer is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the API will be error-free, that similarity scores will be calibrated for your use case, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MediaLayer AI Labs and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profit, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the API or the website, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Where this limitation cannot apply, total liability is capped at the fees paid to MediaLayer AI Labs in the prior twelve months — or USD $50, whichever is lower.

6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MediaLayer AI Labs and its operators from any third-party claim arising out of your use of the service in violation of these terms, applicable law, or a third party's rights — including the media you submit through the API.

7. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
